Nifty Analysis for Next Week starts with a strong bounce. Nifty gained 2.78% to close at 23,146.15, recovering the losses of the previous two weeks.
IT earnings, short covering and a fall in USD/INR drove the move. FIIs sold just ₹8,990.50 crore, around 70% less than last week.
Our view is a cautious recovery, not a confirmed trend change. The rally is narrow and led by heavyweights. USD/INR will be key to whether this recovery continues.
Key Takeaways:
- Nifty gained 2.78% and recovered two weeks of losses, but IT and heavyweight stocks led the move.
- FIIs also turned net buyers on Friday, the first net buying in at least 15 sessions.
- A fall in USD/INR is supporting the bounce. This came from RBI action, not foreign buying.
- This is a strong start, not a trend change. Full support and resistance levels are covered in the technical section below.
Nifty Analysis for Next Week: Why Nifty Jumped 2.78%
Nifty opened at 22,593.20, and closed at 23,146.15, up 2.78% from last week’s close of 22,520.45. The HCLTech reported a 21.2% rise in profit to ₹5,132 crore, and Nifty jumped 1.60% on Tuesday. Nifty IT gained 5.22% that day, its biggest single-day rise in over 17 months.
There was another factor. Global money moved out of expensive AI stocks, with the Kospi falling over 6% on Tuesday. Some of that money moved into Indian large-cap stocks.
Thursday saw another 1.66% rise as HDFC Bank, Reliance and IT stocks led the move, while mid and small caps lagged. This was a rally led by heavyweight stocks, not a broad market recovery.
For Nifty Analysis for Next Week. Upcoming IT results and USD/INR will decide whether the buying continues.
Nifty Analysis for Next Week: Bank Nifty Gains 1.06% but Lags the Index
Bank Nifty lagged Nifty’s 2.78% because IT led, not lenders.
September CPI came in at 5.54%, above the 5.10% forecast and above the RBI full year projection of 5.2%. After the RBI raised its benchmark repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.50% last week, further tightening remains possible. Banks are unlikely to lead the market until rate hike fears ease.
For Nifty Analysis for Next Week, Bank Nifty needs to catch up for the rally to broaden.
Nifty Analysis for Next Week: Events That Shaped the Nifty View for Next Week
Strong IT earnings trigger a 5.22% one day jump in Nifty IT
Strong Q2 results and better revenue guidance from leading Indian IT companies triggered a sharp sector rally. Bears were forced to cover short positions, pushing the Nifty IT index up nearly 15% and supporting the broader market breakout.
September CPI jumps to 5.54%, above the 5.10% forecast
Food inflation rose to 7.74%, pushing headline inflation above the RBI’s full-year projection of 5.2%. The data came after Monday’s close, yet Nifty rose 1.60% on Tuesday, showing how strong the earnings-driven buying was. Further RBI tightening remains possible, keeping rate-sensitive sectors exposed.
FIIs turn net buyers for the first time in at least 15 sessions
FIIs sold only ₹8,990.50 crore this week, down about 70%, and bought ₹1,165.92 crore on Friday. DIIs sold ₹3,661.28 crore the same day. One session is a signal, not a trend, so Monday’s flows are the next test.
Nifty Analysis for Next Week: FIIs Cut Selling to ₹8,990 Crore and Turn Buyers on Friday
FIIs sold ₹8,990.50 crore this week, down about 70% from ₹30,294.29 crore last week. On Friday, they bought ₹1,165.92 crore, their first net buying day in at least 15 sessions.
DIIs bought ₹7,812.81 crore. On Friday, they sold ₹3,661.28 crore as FIIs returned. This is the handover we want to see.
The main driver was USD/INR. It fell from 97 to 95 after the RBI announced new measures to support the rupee, including a special dollar window for oil companies. This relief came from RBI action, not foreign money returning, so it may not last. The RBI is estimated to have spent around $75–80 billion defending the rupee since June, and that firepower is limited.
Thursday is a warning. FIIs sold ₹5,285.37 crore, yet Nifty rose 1.66%. The rally relied on short covering and DII buying. Crude oil and US yields are still rising, which keeps foreign investors cautious.
One day of buying is a signal, not a trend. We need FIIs to remain net buyers for at least two more sessions.
Who Won and Who Lost
Nifty Analysis for Next Week: Nifty Option Chain Analysis
Option data supports the recovery but conviction is still weak. The Nifty PCR fell to 1.08 from 1.27, showing that put writers took profits as the market rose. Positioning is now more balanced.
The highest call OI moved up from 23,000 to 23,500, raising resistance by 500 points. The highest put OI remains at 22,500, so writers are still defending the support.
India VIX closed at 14.02, down from 14.37. Fear is low, so a sharp reversal could catch hedgers off guard. Bank Nifty shows a similar setup. Its PCR is 1.06, Max Pain is 55,800, resistance is 56,000 and support is 55,000.
Nifty Analysis for Next Week: Nifty Technical Analysis
Key Resistance: 23,100 is the immediate resistance and Nifty closed above it on Friday. The level that confirms the uptrend is 23,600. A daily close above it would form a higher high and turn the structure bullish. The next major resistance is 24,500.
Key Support: 23,100 now becomes the first support as it was the previous resistance. Below it, the daily 21 EMA is the next support and Nifty has closed above it. The 22,200 level is the key base. It held despite global uncertainty and geopolitical tensions. 22,000 is the last line of defence. A decisive break below it would reopen the path towards 19,000.
Momentum: Weekly RSI closed back above 40, the first sign that selling pressure is easing. The six-month RSI divergence from March to September has now played out. Last week, we noted that the USD/INR monthly RSI was near 82, which signalled that USD/INR could cool. It did, falling from 97 to 95, while Nifty rose 2.78%. This relationship remains an important signal to watch.
Near-Term Setup: The weekly chart closed with a strong hammer candle at the 200 EMA. The daily chart also closed above the 21 EMA and 23,100. After a 2.78% weekly rise, some profit booking or a retest of 23,100 is normal. If this level holds during a dip, the setup remains intact.
The bigger risk comes from outside the chart. Global cues remain negative with FII selling, rising crude oil prices and rising US yields. USD/INR is the key factor. If it starts rising again, Nifty may struggle to hold these gains.
Bias: Cautiously positive. This is a strong start, not a trend change. Prefer dips near support instead of chasing the rally. Consider the market bullish only after a daily close above 23,600.
Invalidation: A daily close above 23,600 confirms the uptrend. A daily close below 23,100 weakens the setup. A close below 22,200 cancels the recovery while a decisive break below 22,000 reopens the path towards 19,000.
Nifty Analysis for Next Week: Nifty View for Next Week
The market view for Nifty Analysis for Next Week is a cautious recovery. Earnings, short covering and a fall in USD/INR lifted Nifty but FIIs have only just stopped selling and the rally is narrow. We remain positive but not aggressive.
The key triggers are USD/INR, FII flows, crude oil and US yields. India Infrastructure Output data comes on 21 October, followed by flash PMIs on 23 October. Jio’s record IPO runs from 21 to 23 October and could draw money away from the secondary market.
Most likely case, about 45% probability: Consolidation. Profit booking brings Nifty towards the support mentioned in the technical section. Buyers defend it, and the index trades in a wider range. FIIs remain mixed. IT cools down while Auto, Realty and Financials take turns leading.
Bull case, about 35% probability: USD/INR holds near 95, FIIs buy for several sessions and IT earnings remain strong. A daily close above the confirmation level mentioned in the technical section would turn the structure bullish. Institutions could add exposure while Bank Nifty, mid caps and Metal join the rally.
Bear case, about 20% probability: USD/INR moves back towards 97, crude oil and US yields rise, or FIIs resume heavy selling. If the support mentioned in the technical section breaks, the recovery fails. Rate-sensitive sectors would be hit first as inflation at 5.54% keeps further RBI tightening on the table. DIIs may not be able to absorb all the selling.
